Update Your Look - The Femme Fatale in the Future

Wednesday, March 25, 2009

Precious metals and precise tailoring, today’s woman uses style to fight off the world’s worries. So, why live in the past? From structured dresses and monumental heels that look to be designed by architects - the superwoman of past seasons has now transformed into more of a robo-woman. Sleeker lines and constricted yet practical looks mark a new way of movement.

As Miuccia Prada has noted with her Spring 2009 collection that early woman was fascinated with gold and its luster, the lust and interest behind those special pieces that just so happen to catch our eyes, still lingers on. At Balenciaga, rounded shoulders and body stockings displayed an easier form of movement. Which made for a certain simplicity, though each look consisted of very meticulous detail, that would leave an overall impression of how to apply the trend to your closet.

While it may appear to be difficult to achieve a look that would rival Judy Jetson, without being constricted or overdone, slight interchangeable variations to your ensemble will work towards your advantage. Since Spring 2008 the monumental heel has come and gone. This time around, the tower heels literally board on resembling towers or at least have construction of one. The right statement shoe paired with a refined and clean ensemble will instantly set one the right direction towards their futuristic goal.

Fashion is really moving toward this idea and futuristic notion of "another kind of woman", which is what it should be doing; saying where it's at. Daiane Conterato is rocking my favorite look from that BalenS/S09 collection. Those jackets Ghesquiere created futuristic fem fatale. You chose pieces and designers who best represent this movement and send out magical looks down the runway. I like to call the Balenciaga girls "Balen-bots". Even doing a cage shoe, chic cropped pant, Balmain shouldered blazer is enough to "set one the right direction towards their futuristic goal."

P.S. LOVE FOR LABELS #4 Answers have been posted! Good job :)

I regret never shooting Gianfranco Ferre's store before it closed. To my credit, I just couldn't deal with crossing the street again and then again and then back again to get to the train another 2-3 avenues away. I hope to see those shoes in some display soon because I feel like I could study them all night long. haha
